Agenda and video of recent Kansas City Planning and Zoning City Council Meeting
See below for a link to the city Planning and Zoning Committee where the rezoning of the property for the temple was heard. Video is included on the page. The temple proposal is heard about 4 minutes into the video, lasts about 15 minutes and provides a very detailed explanation of the location of the property.
The land is 56 acres. The land is being zoned for a temple and an adjacent meetinghouse on 9-10 acres and then a new housing development to surround the temple on the remaining 46 acres. The housing development will contain 140 single family homes. Entrance to the subdivision off Pleasant Valley Rd with access points off Searcy Creek Pkwy and Shoal Creek Pkwy. A berm or sound barrier will be placed on the I-435 side of the property.
An informational meeting was held in May for owners of adjacent properties at the new police station to answer questions and hear concerns.
Don White, representative for Zions Securities states that they hope to start construction this year. Final plat and grading plan have been submitted to the council.

Question and Answer
I'd like to answer a couple of questions a blog reader has raised. I'll answer any questions I can as best I can with the understanding that I am not an official source of information, but will do my best to only provide information that is from reliable sources. I will include my source when I provide information.
Question 1. In the text you posted, you said, "...the name will in fact be the Kansas City Missouri Temple." But, on the image of the temple you have displayed as a poster, the word "Missouri" is missing from the name.
Answer: I am drawing my information from the page recently added on lds.org which lists the temple name as Kansas City Missouri.
Question 2. Since you chose that photo of a temple to display the Kansas City Missouri Temple name... are we to understand that you've found out that this is the basic style or design of temple that will be built for the Kansas City Missouri Temple?
Answer: The information we received at our Liberty Stake Conference was that the Kansas City Missouri temple would be similar in design to the Twin Falls Idaho temple. The pictures I have used both on the blog header and in The October 12 post are both pictures of the Twin Falls Idaho temple.

Temple Design and Timeline
That latest information we have as confirmed by the Liberty Stake President, President Lehnardt, is that the Kansas City Temple will look something like the Twin Falls Idaho temple (pictured above). It will not be a small temple or a large temple but something in between. They estimate it will take 3 years to construct.Friday, October 10, 2008

Temple Location
We now have a location for the temple. According to my semi-official sources, the temple will be located approximately at the intersection of 435 and Shoal Creek Parkway. The temple falls on the west side of 435 and north of Shoal Creek Parkway which puts it in the boundaries of the North Kansas City ward, but on the border with the Shoal Creek Valley Ward in the Liberty Stake. Zoom in on the above map to see exactly where we believe the site is located.

Temple Site Location is announced
On October 7, the announcement was made regarding the location of the Kansas City temple. The site will be in Clay County, Missouri, on residential land within the Kansas City limits that is already being developed by the Church. The development is known as Shoal Creek. This puts it in the Northeast corner of the Greater Kansas City area, at approximately the intersection of Interstate 435 and Highway 152 near Liberty, Missouri.
